Here we go with a new issue on the free german local Radio Querfunk. This month I had a special guest from Strasbourg - DJ Mero. In the 2nd hour, he was mixing some dope hiphop plus some jazz gems. Unfortunately due to this old and self-made studio equipement of Radio Querfunk, the sound quality was bad on some records but we solved the problem. In the first hour I was mixing some jazz and soul funk. There was also a little technical incident (skip on one record) - it seems that those old Querfunk studio turntables are wrack - nevertheless we tried the best and you can enjoy some gems in both hours, and the sound and little skip are simply free german underground radio style. Big respect to two big fans, they visited us during the live show.

It's a cold, cloudy summer afternoon of a faun. After a rainy morning, somewhere in a city in Southwestern Germany. A young girl, favours electronic music, is sitting down on the ground while listening on an old ghetto blaster to this radioshow. Maybe, she lost a very good friend, 'cause she felt in love with another guy. Althought she did and meant the best to her best friend, doesn't wanna loose him.
While thinking 'bout worries, she discovers smooth jazz, fusion, disco stuff & breaks selected by Chris the Vinylist. This time, his selection is for strange situations. He is mixing only with vinyls in an old analogue studio of an underground radio station in this ill paradox digital world, the year is 2010.
Like rapper Common Sense: "I used to love H.E.R." - it's all about the music. And like Rick Holmes used to speak over Cannonball Adderley's "Leo" tune - "so the best thing for you to do is to share your love with the one you want to share your love with..."

It's all about the vibes, the real good vibes...

In my crates I found a Minidisc with an old radioshow I did almost five years ago, in summer 2005, every Thursday afternoon on RBS 91.9 FM in Strasbourg/France. In this issue, we had a french-german freestyle-session live on the Strasbourg airwaves, with some MCees from the ghettos of Strasbourg. And a friend of mine, MC Fabi, was freestyling with them over some self-produced beats of them plus classic instrumentals from vinyl. And of course some classic jazz and hiphop stuff mixed live. Hope you will enjoy it!!

Here is a new mixtape. As you can hear, it is not mixed by a DJ Premier but like the Dope Poet Society, a unknown, independent hiphop crew from Canada used to say: "Don't give a damn!" It's very jazzy and it's the music that counts. So enjoy the mix, and big up to Kon & Amir, their boogie and latin jazz session last Friday in Strasbourg was pure dope!

What a cold and rainy day today. Good for spending some hours for diggin' at the "Studio Eins" vinylstore in Karlsruhe, Karlstrasse 85. While searching for some good jazz and funk records, I met a guy from Milan, his name is Matteo. He is a member of a dj-crew called the "Funk ya mama" crew. Check this dope one hour mixtape by Thes One from People Under the Stairs. It's a demo mix for his forthcoming LP "Fun DMC", out on September 30th. Hear dope disco breaks and old school hiphop, combined with freestyles and tracks by Thes One himself, Raashan Ahmad of Crown City Rockers, Shawn Jackson and more. On this mix I especially like the gem around 45:26 minutes till 48:35 minutes. This track is great kind of groovy disco funk stuff with dope bass lines and a banger female voice. Maybe someone out there can help me in finding out who's this female and what's the name of this track. It sounds that it was released end of 70ties.
